A very rare (especially in the USA 🇺🇸) solid body, Talman acoustic!
Looks and feels like an electric guitar!
Will not feedback on stage like traditional acoustics!

The TMX20 was made for a short time in the early 2000s and was never sold in the USA. They rarely show up for sale anywhere in the world. When I initially started looking for one it took about 4 years to find it!
This is basically the Ibanez Talman interpretation of a Godin multiac. I obviously prefer the Talman. 🙂 These are awesome guitars. It's hard to believe this one is 21 years old!
- Quilted Maple top
- Mahogany body and neck
- Rosewood fretboard and bridge
- Multi-ply binding
- Satin silver hardware
- EMF Acoustics B-Band pickup
- Custom AEQ2C 2-band EQ
When I bought this guitar it was a little rough and neglected, so I had to do some reconditioning.
- Disassembled and fixed middle pot (bass control)
- Replaced missing plastic bushings on tuner pegs (A & D strings only). Note, the new plastic bushings were not a perfect match to the originals' outer diameter, but it's very close. Probably would not notice if you didn't look for it.
- Fixed loose strap buttons. Filled strap button holes with wood and glue. Replaced bottom strap button screw (original had rust on threads)
- Upgraded ebony bridge pins. I sanded down larger pins for a perfect fit in the unmodified, factory holes. The original plastic pins were in bad shape.
- Disassembled entire guitar for documentation
- Cleaned everything and setup (details below)
After the reconditioning work, this guitar is now in excellent condition! It shows very little wear. Minimal to no fret wear! The action is really nice, it plays wonderfully. The intonation is great too! All electronics work and sound good! Original hardware, nut, bridge, etc.
Included is a brand new Ibanez POWERPAD gig bag!
Model: IGB541-MGN (Moss Green)
I think the Moss Green bag perfectly matches the warm earthy colors of the TMX20!
Setup:
- polish frets
- clean and oil fretboard (Nomad F-ONE oil)
- Nomad TUNE-IT lubricant on nut
- D'Addario EJ15 strings 10-47 (phosphor bronze)
- deoxidize all electronics
- original nut, slot depths are OK
- adjusted truss rod, neck relief to .006" (.152mm)
- carnauba wax on body
- clean all hardware
- new battery
String heights @12th (hold 1st):
- E 1.75mm
- A 2mm
- D 2mm
- G 1.75mm
- B 1.5mm
- e 1.25mm
Blemishes:
- Two small dents on the back (center)
- One small dent on the right side of the guitar (near top binding)
- Scratches on the back of the headstock (lower left)
- Two small scratches in the finish. Both on the back. One near the two small dents (center, left). The other is near the bottom strap button.
- A small finish crack is starting to develop on the top, lower right side of the bridge. This is a common problem with this model.
- Misc swirls and surface scratches. I tried taking pictures with reflected light to give you a good idea, but keep in mind under normal room lighting you can't really see these types of swirls and scratches.
- Back of the neck has turned slightly glossy from play wear (lower half only)
- There's a very fine scratch on the back of the neck, near the heel. It shows good in the pictures, but in person it's basically invisible.
- The rear panel screws show wear and light signs of rust (inside the screw head)
- The satin hardware has some light corrosion. This is also very common.
Note, I'm just being thorough here. Overall it's in excellent condition!
Don't miss your chance to grab one of the rare Talmans. Like any Talman, another one could show up for sale tomorrow, or 5 years from now. I'm betting with the TMX20 it's going to be awhile.
